In theory, anyways!  I haven't yet tried this, but if you Perm CLEESH and adventure at A Battlefield in uniform, you'll be able to adventure there without leveling by CLEESHing all of the non-Temporal Bandit enemies.  This won't increase your odds of getting him, but it will keep you from out-leveling the area.

You still get one stat point from killing a CLEESH'd monster. It'd be better just to save the MP and run away every time. I'm not sure if Ultra Rares work in this way still, but I think Bashy postulated that UR encounters had a floating time window so that they couldn't be encountered at any other times on a given day.

im not sure if running away from every one would work... but if you wanted to make sure you could spend quite a bit of time cleeshing you can always do this in a softcore run and use a haiku katana... spring raindrop attack = free cleesh... i usually use this tactic in the hippy/frat war... just made a ccs that cleeshed the first round, spring raindrop attack the second and attack the third...

I remember Bashy saying this too... I had a chat with him about this. There's no way to prove for or against that one since 1) the odds are so low, 2) not every UR encounter is logged.

Well, I hung around the battlefield for a few weeks, almost a month getting lucky lighters and whatnot. I used imp ale and knob goblin steroids with a moxie class (AT) to keep my level down. on labor day I did run into the temporal bandit, but that's a month of squatting between level 4-5, with no guarantee of the encounter. I didn't try to redirect my stat gains to lower the costs but that may have been worth a shot.
