Mysteriously Handsome offers different amounts of ML depending on gender.

Malthan mentioned that it should be possible to get it to use the fifth value, rather than the lowest, but I don't work with Mafia much.

The other problem with adding the five turns is if you're using this to check if you can finish it within X number of turns. In that case, the squeezes have already been spent.

Question about the slime tube ..

To get a low count run, you can either (according to wiki) :

- raise the ML to 1340 and do no squeezes
- raise the ML to 1378 and do 5 squeezes
  (slightly higher because you use 5 turns to squeeze)

Question is, if you want to do a lowest count run, which option is better, if for example you raised your ML to 1400 or 1500 or 1600, is it better to have squeezes and add 5 turns, or ignore the squeezes ?? Looking at the Hall of records fastest runs, it seems to be better to squeeze since all the runs in there have 5+ participants ..

Any ideas ?

It is always better to squeeze. It requires help on familiar runs but reduces the cost of buffs you need to get the ML high enough.

The mechanic is simple. Waste a few turns squeezing to raise the ML and you'll require less ML from other sources. The other sources are limited and get continually more expensive so squeezing to increase ML is cheaper.

Oh, and your numbers are wrong. It's 1278 with 5 squeezes.

Yes I did know it was cheaper to do squeezes, but I was wondering about leaderboard runs, where people don't mind spending huge amounts of meat on buffs to get there ..

The number of buffs you can get is limited. This guide has some I didn't know about when I did the leaderboard run that has us on there now but I used even expensive buffs like powdered toad horn to get that. The turn count will be lower with 5 squeezes.

I didn't bother with the math for the exact numbers, but for 100ML to cause a change of 5 turns or less, you need to be looking at over 2000ML. (Not that you can currently achieve it.)


2100 - 160
2200 - 154
2300 - 149
2400 - 143
2500 - 138
2600 - 134


So the jump from 2200 to 2300 takes 5 turns, but saves 5 turns, and same for 2400 to 2500. (Though 2300 to 2400 saves 6. I'm going to say it's something with the rounding.)

Thanks to both of you -- Ill see if I can get everything going.  Slime tube speed runs must be the killer app for mafia, because theyre incredibly boring and carpal-tunnel-causing to do manually.

it is carpal tunnel inducing. I just did a run so I can get another piece of the slime outfit. On my multi I just run the script (as I have the whole slime hates it outfit) and its easy peasy that way. Doing it manually, or at least letting mafia run every few adventures before you need to chamois and either cast cocoon or use a scroll of drastic is a major pain.

After half a year, an update has come to this sheet! The new theoretical minimum, as vetted by the great Bluff himself, is now *199*, or six turns faster than the current record.

Note that this brings the insanity to a whole new level.

Thought about it, when I saw the new +20ML buff that came out, but then I remembered the long endless days of PYECing and all that for a top spot on the board that will get beaten a few months later when another buff comes out ..

so i'll just wait for a few new buffs to come out before doing another leaderboard run :P, jick seems to be rolling out a lot of new content lately, so who knows ..

Did you actually look at the buffs involved? This requires all six of the A Little Bit Evil buffs (via hookah), using a wardrobe+stocking mimic as purse rat on every combat and the +10lb buff from the moveable feast. =P
