The Hobopolis loot everyone wants but too few people seem to want to actually help get. After over a year we've gotten 6 hamsters, 2 people have helped with every successful hamster run and neither of them got a hamster. There are also people who want hamsters that are either too apathetic or lazy to plan a run or set aside time for planned runs. Time for a policy change on how these items are distributed.
- Priority will go to the person who has helped with the most successful hamster runs. This priority extends to sticks and coats also. So people that actually put in the time, effort, and sacrifice required to get hamsters are rewarded. This priority may also extend to future dungeon loot as an added incentive for people to help with the extra effort and teamwork required for hamsters. Chatbot rolls can break ties. For people with multi's who get hamsters each hamster received will count as -1 to their hamster helped total to help keep a single person with multiple accounts easily getting hamsters before everyone else.
- A fee can be paid to bypass the hamster run priority system. If all the team members agree the person paying the fee will be awarded the loot. The fee will be 30 million meat for a hamster, 15 million for a coat, and 10 million for a whackin' stick. The fee will be paid to the clan stash in full before the item is distributed. A discount of 10% per successful hamster run you've helped on may be applied up to a maximum of 90%. In the event of a conflict where two people want to buy on the same run priority goes to most runs helped on or a chatbot roll to break the tie.
- I think we'll do sticks and coats by turn count. If people specifically ask in advance to apply hamster point bonus turns we would probably add that. Stick and coat runs require a lot of turns and the people that put the most effort in probably deserve priority.
- People struggling to fill their last few want/have list loot items can request hamster run priority for loot distribution. A 50 turn bonus per hamster run they've helped on could be applied to the turn count distribution method giving them an added advantage. The priority system only applies to reasonable use of loot. People wanting to collect loot or smash it can't abuse the system. Points applied against someone else who has points should be taken into consideration. If player A has 5 points, asks to use them, and player B has 4 points then only 1 point should be applied in that case.
Hopefully this will encourage more people to put the time and effort into helping with hamster runs so more people can get them. We know how to do it, we have skilled people, and we just need more people to take the time to help do it.
Helping with hamster runs requires you pay attention to the forums. If you don't check the forums regularly you'll miss out on planned runs or cause plans for runs to fall through if they don't get enough people. Active participation is required and hamster runs are a team effort. Hamster runs are planned in this board.
http://www.sevenlances.net/forum/index.php?board=19.0 A fairly good understanding of Hobopolis is required along with a full hobo code binder (full preferred or at least close) and class instrument from Hobopolis. All the work has been done for you and the information is readily available on the forums, you just have to educate yourself a little bit.
