The Hobopolis loot everyone wants but too few people seem to want to actually help get. After over a year we've gotten 6 hamsters, 2 people have helped with every successful hamster run and neither of them got a hamster. There are also people who want hamsters that are either too apathetic or lazy to plan a run or set aside time for planned runs. Time for a policy change on how these items are distributed.

- Priority will go to the person who has helped with the most successful hamster runs. This priority extends to sticks and coats also. So people that actually put in the time, effort, and sacrifice required to get hamsters are rewarded. This priority may also extend to future dungeon loot as an added incentive for people to help with the extra effort and teamwork required for hamsters. Chatbot rolls can break ties. For people with multi's who get hamsters each hamster received will count as -1 to their hamster helped total to help keep a single person with multiple accounts easily getting hamsters before everyone else.

- A fee can be paid to bypass the hamster run priority system. If all the team members agree the person paying the fee will be awarded the loot. The fee will be 30 million meat for a hamster, 15 million for a coat, and 10 million for a whackin' stick. The fee will be paid to the clan stash in full before the item is distributed. A discount of 10% per successful hamster run you've helped on may be applied up to a maximum of 90%. In the event of a conflict where two people want to buy on the same run priority goes to most runs helped on or a chatbot roll to break the tie.

- I think we'll do sticks and coats by turn count. If people specifically ask in advance to apply hamster point bonus turns we would probably add that. Stick and coat runs require a lot of turns and the people that put the most effort in probably deserve priority.

- People struggling to fill their last few want/have list loot items can request hamster run priority for loot distribution. A 50 turn bonus per hamster run they've helped on could be applied to the turn count distribution method giving them an added advantage. The priority system only applies to reasonable use of loot. People wanting to collect loot or smash it can't abuse the system. Points applied against someone else who has points should be taken into consideration. If player A has 5 points, asks to use them, and player B has 4 points then only 1 point should be applied in that case.

Hopefully this will encourage more people to put the time and effort into helping with hamster runs so more people can get them. We know how to do it, we have skilled people, and we just need more people to take the time to help do it.

Helping with hamster runs requires you pay attention to the forums. If you don't check the forums regularly you'll miss out on planned runs or cause plans for runs to fall through if they don't get enough people. Active participation is required and hamster runs are a team effort. Hamster runs are planned in this board. http://www.sevenlances.net/forum/index.php?board=19.0  A fairly good understanding of Hobopolis is required along with a full hobo code binder (full preferred or at least close) and class instrument from Hobopolis. All the work has been done for you and the information is readily available on the forums, you just have to educate yourself a little bit.

Some things that could use clarification or specification...

Is this active retroactively?
By "priority", is that a guaranteed receipt (barring the situations listed)?
Is the 10% discount given per run performed with a fee, or for any run where the participant did not receive the hamster?

It is active retroactively. I see no reason it shouldn't be.

My first reaction was that paying for a hamster shouldn't give someone credit for helping but I'm not so sure. Paying for a hamster does help the clan and the person still has to help with that run. Edit: This made no sense. If you get a hamster you don't get credit for that run regardless of whether you pay or don't pay.

Sorry, no love for people that are lambs in this system. You could just shower the helpful little lambs with gifts and praise. Same for people who coordinate and organize runs. If getting people to plan and coordinate runs is hard I suggest bribing them with meat. Both positions are valuable and deserve extra credit this system doesn't provide.

My queston would be for lambs.  I've been on a few hamster runs so far as a lamb just because there were lots of my class signed up but I still wanted to help.  Do we want to count the lamb at all or as half a run since it doesn't require any hobo codes or any real turn investment?

Lambs get no credit. The credit would be too great for too little work or skill required. It is simpler to give them no credit than partial credit and then have to keep track of that.

Z, I'm entirely in favor of this.  Sounds fun ;)

Can we post a preliminary hamster-list?  Might be helpful for people to know approximately where they're at.

FOR ANYONE PLANNING A RUN

If you want a lamb for any run, at any time, shoot me a k-mail in advance and I guarantee I will make time for it.

Should the person who coordinates a stunt run get any extra points since they put in more work?

I think so.  Having done it so many times, I think it counts for a lot.  It is a TON of work.

(PS already got my hamster so I'm not saying it because I think I should have an advantage lol)

I agree but from the standpoint of keeping track of things I don't want to make it any more work than it's going to be. I should get more credit for having to change ranks and permissions every time? How about the Hodgman killer? The new system gives the person planning runs an obvious advantage. Pick people for your team that have helped less times than you and you'll get the hamster first. :)

I suggest people do what I did for slimeling runs. Ask people to pay you a fee to do runs if you've already gotten the hamster. I didn't do it for profit as much as an incentive to put up with the hassle of doing it. I don't mind helping clannies but if you have to do too much repetition  and spending a lot of your time you deserve something for it.

Like everything else the system isn't perfect and may need tweaking. It should be a lot better than the old way of doing it though.

hows that hamster familiar working? ha

definitely seems like a ton of work - especially with the lag issues I personally had yesterday. But then again, Z is right, as the organizer you'll get to pick/choose who is on the team. There is never going to be a perfect system, but hopefully this will be a better incentive now for people to join runs as often as they can.

Ask people to pay you a fee to do runs if you've already gotten the hamster.

So it's got your blessing to charge people for organizing the run?

And, in that case, how about charging for, say, giving up your turn to get the hamster or even the transfer of points?

There is no way to transfer points. I wouldn't say it has my blessing. Seems pretty clear to me. If some jackass tries to exploit the clan for profit there might be a problem. If people want to do hamster runs and nobody wants to organize it they can bribe some capable person if they want or that person could just say I'll do it for a fee. I'm too tired to nitpick right now.
