Bigg's Dig
« on: September 01, 2010, 01:09:50 AM »

Phase 2:
0. Bigg's Dig appears to be closed! However, if you look closely at the crates, they're addressed to RCC, not RCB... current speculation is Rene C. Corman... Corman, being the name mentioned by the demon on the tablet, and 'Rene C Corman' being an anagram of Necromancer... Further reinforced by how the skeletal monsters fled, not died. Or whatever they do. New text: "The tent is currently empty. Weird that Bigg would leave without even saying goodbye..." Alternative speculation, courtesy of HR0: Maybe Bigg is driving back from the Burning Man Festival right now. After all, the tablet is a clear reference to it.

Phase 1.66:
0. Follows many of the rules of Phase 1 and 1.33.
1. New items
a. Fossilized demon skull - +3hot to necklace
b. Fossilized spider skull - +3spooky to necklace.
c. sinister ancient tablet - Gives a demon name. And it's an ANIMATED item. Ooooooooo. Supposedly, the demon effect deals you and your opponent hot damage. Unless you have the demon tattoo on, in which it absorbs the damage it deals you. My name: Cthzuul

Phase 1.33:
0. Follows many of the rules of Phase 1.
1. The shovel breaks after 30 turns.
2. New items
a. Fossilized spike
b. Red Hot Medallion - Tattoo; Found in HILLS [multiple reports].
c. Waterlogged crate from anywhere on the floor of The Sea gives more shovels. Unknown if -combat helps.

Phase 1:
0. You can dig around. Each dig takes one turn.
1. The mounds contain mostly bones.
a. Skulls may be used, if you have the body parts, for a sort-of-scaling combat.
*. Wyrm = 2 limbs, 1 torso, 3 spines, 2 wings
**. Baboon = 4 limbs, 1 torso
b. Winning the combats can be used to make an accessory that maxes at +10attrib/+10spelldam/+15wepdam/+15%attrib. (Supposedly after 5 combats of each type of skeleton. The upgrade occurs as an end-of-combat message.)
c. You need a pottery weapon to hurt them. Refer to 2a.
d. All source items are tradable.
e. Skeletons ARE puttyable.
2. The ground contains mostly ash/pottery. You need 45 (?) in total, for one of each item.
a. Paste the ash/pottery together and use it in quantities up to 11 to make an outfit, club and yoyo.
b. Zap the yoyo into an owl for a hot lime ghuol (?) that drops ash.
c. They smash into junk. So don't.
d. The pottery items are tradable.
3. There is an uber-rare (relatively speaking. I spent ~1k turns and didn't get one.) volcanic meteoroid.
a. The meteoroid gives a skill that consumes the owl's ash. The skill APPEARS to do saucegeyser*3 of hot damage.
b. The meteoroid is NOT consumed upon use.
c. The skill IS permable.
4. You CAN dig when drunk.

Unfortunately, the whole digg has been dugg up.
Who knew 1 mil adventures can go so quick?
Anyways, if any _LUCKY_ clannie has the meteoroid, I'd like to borrow it for a few seconds, since learning the skill does not consume the item (yet!).
I have some trinkets I can offer as a collateral, please contact me.

Yeah no fair! Some of us had to work during that time. It was done before I even knew it existed. :(

It was probably over before you woke up or while you were getting ready for work.

I do. =P

If you spent any more time on KoL Jick would have to give you benefits and a paycheck. :P

Here's the wiki page.
http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Bigg%27s_dig

Some things I don't know.

Does item drop help? (I'm told it doesn't help) What's optimal for this zone?
What's the goal if there is one yet? Pottery and ash combine to make parts needed to make the outfit. Adventuring in the mounds seems to have more fossils while non-mounds tend to be more pottery and ash. Still a lot of it is random. You can get more crates to get more shovels. I just bought mine from the mall.

If you collect enough fossilized parts you can use the skulls and fight the monsters (you might want the pottery outfit on so you don't get your butt kicked) to get the necklace and charge it up. The first monster will drop it and the charges seem to cap at 5 per monster type.

fossilized necklace

This is a fossilized necklace, decorated with fossilized teeth. How do you wear a necklace that's embedded in a massive slab of rock? Very carefully.

    The necklace is adorned with:
       6 bat teeth
       5 serpent teeth
       5 baboon teeth
       5 wyrm teeth

    Type: accessory
    Cannot be traded
    Cannot be discarded

    Enchantment:
    All Attributes +10
    Spell Damage +10
    Weapon Damage +15
    All Attributes +15%

Found my medallion in the top left corner of of a subsection of section 61. It was in a mound. Leads me to speculate all medallions are in mounds and may be more frequent in corners. I also believe only about 100 medallions exist, one for each main section (un-confirmed), so if you know of a medallion being discovered in a certain section, my advice is to dig in a different main section.

Dont forget that you guys can keep adventuring there after drinking your final drink

Today I used my best foods and drinks possible (besides pasties and distilled wine) and I think it was totally worth it. I'd say it might be worth it for you guys too.

Also, I did buy a waterlogged crate from the mall to use, and got 3 spines (which pay for it) along with a bunch of fossils and (luckily) a medallion.

If you buy a crate for 200k, and stick ONLY to mounds when digging,  it is very possible to get 3 spines, which pay for it and then some. This also gives you a lot of extra fossils and the chance for a medallion (or whatever the rare item will be tomorrow).
Even if you can only get two spines, sticking just to fossils should easily get you a gain. This may NOT be better than meat farming, depending on what you get. But sticking to mounds, you should definitely get enough to cover costs and even profit, which is totally worth it in my book.

Good luck out there!

I found not one, but 2 tablets today in the same section within 35 adventures of each other. I was shocked!
