Out of interest, has there been any statement on what happens if the IotM is a familiar and you are in a Bad Moon run?  I *presume* you can still pull Mr A's to spend in the store as BM is effectively a modified HC run after all...

It lets you get the hatchling but when you try to put it in your terrarium it says "You start to put the item in your terrarium, but you suddenly get scared -- you glance fearfully at the moons, and put it back in your sack."

I wonder if the outfit effect of the Bounty-Hunting Rig will negate the dual wield meaty/item goodness of the new crossbows?

Well, even if the outfit effect is to add to the +items of the individual pieces you are still using 3 slots which could better be filled by an Ice Pick, 2 x Crossbows and Plexi Pants.  That combination also gives you +22% meat and a pickpocket-boosting +init FTW.

Admittedly that would set you back around 18M and a HCO DB run against 45 lots of BHH questing so it all depends on how much you want to invest in a good item farming outfit (3 x Mr A Jr would be about 10M and give you more +items than the above gear at the cost of all your accessory slots).

It also depends on what you are farming - the rice bowl and pilgrim shield have nice, but specific, +item boosts.  Indeed, I think the rice bowl will be exceptionally useful in bad moon if you shun the time taken to obtain a gravy fairy.

Personally I can't see the outfit effect being more +items, especially as the bounty items you hunt have a 100% drop rate anyway.  I hope it lets you do more than one BHH quest per day.

My take on the August Item is - totally awesome.  I've been using my wizard action figure (Harry Potterfolsby) for a few days now and it's a good familiar.  I wish it was a bigger volleyball but the healing and attack aspects let you get away with boosting monster level more.  Plus, having a few extra pounds of gravy fairy has shown a nice increase in my item drops.  I almost never switch off a volleyball-type, so the item boost is a nice perk.

If you're a newb looking for a Mr Store familiar, you'll love this one.

I haven't got it yet, it looks a bit washed out for me.
The delevelling looks almost useless (and the healing not much better), and while i like the combination of items and stats, i would prefer to have them at full power, without the attacking instead to be truthful (that would make it overpowered, i know).

Yeah, I like the wizard action figure a lot, and I am considering it seriously, as the mp healing I get from yuletide troll or hobo is not enough (now that they start at 1-pound) to keep a stable set of active buffs , so if I'm not going to be buffing myself actively, I might as well get some +item drop...

Any other useful mr store familiar for hardcore?

Wizard - not for the top speed, but for slower runs its pretty cool. I wouldn't bother with the equip.
Dandy lion is fantastic, lets you run a *lot* of buffs. Is my main item drop familiar.
Goodfella is pretty good too, full weight volley + barrrnacle, that means you can adventure in harder areas and it delevels the monsters. And the contracts, oh yeah.
Troll is kinda 'eh' now, because the MP/HP gains are pathetic and rare.
Green pixie rocks for the !pipes, and if you have your MP solved you can use it as a main item drop familiar (if not use the lion)
Hobo is semi-good (if you have spare booze), badger is crappy (sorry Beni) and so is Comma.
