What difference would the new DNS servers do?  My problem is bad speed, it's a really strange hookup, wireless tower and radio and such.  The sites problem was solved with the router, but there's not much I can do about the crappiness of the actual internet

If your ISP sucks their DNS servers might also suck. It might be worth trying the alternate DNS servers to at least speed up DNS requests.

Alright, I'll set it up. See what happens.

Should I even bother blocking phishing sites?  What does it actually block?

If you're talking about OpenDNS extra features I don't know that I'd bother. I've just tried their basic DNS service and it seemed to work pretty well.

« Reply #19 on: August 29, 2008, 09:29:23 AM »
At home at only at home both the clan forums and the mafia forums load really slow. They both use simple machine forums.
Its doen't matter if I use FF (my prefered browser) or IE.
Like I sqid its only at home that this happens and seems to wih forums that use simple machine.

Any thoughts as to why andhow to get them to load normally?

You probably can't use this... http://users.rcn.com/taylotr/icon_restore.html

Can you set your display resolution to the same setting on both monitors so it doesn't auto-arrange icons when the resolution changes?

I don't know if this works anymore, but this used to work:

Turn on auto arrange.
Move stuff until it's how you like it.
Turn off auto arrange.

Changing the resolution keeps the layout the same, except it's not adjusted for resolution, so it'll only take up a corner of the screen
