I just finished my BM PM run, and the advice matches exactly what I experienced.  One thing to add: if you get the necrotelicomnicon (spooky library book), you will do double damage to both frats and the HiTS monsters, which means you can save some meat by getting that instead of the cold book.

But yeah, staff of the black kettle is win.

Don't get the spooky book.  You have fearful, easy quest, allows you to save 10k, add +10 spell damage, and gives you chance to get a scroll which after Lord Spookyraven will allow you to summon db booze for nightcaps.

I am doing way more damage with the spooky book and the black kettle staff then using fearful.

Well, I just calculated that with my 110 mystic (I'm still in lv 11 and I'm not buffing mystic), I can 1 hit everyone except for the kegs.  I expect that to be solved with entangling or more mystic.  And you can just use kickback and fearful... why use a spooky book on a spooky spell?  Weapon of the pastalord also is only half elemental, which means damage +50%, not +100% with fearful.  The kettle staff costs way too many adventures, and I just think it's not needed.

Fearful still works, and saving a couple of k of meat in Bad Moon is not worth spending 60 turns getting the staff.  Mortar stuffed shell has been voted as the worst skill by the HCO clan by the day.

I dont go for speed runs, especially in BM. Personally, I would rather go for higher damage to kill things faster so that they can't hit me.

You have no reason to adventure one quest behind your level, especially if you're not in kittycore.  You have no excuse to do so... Pastamancer allows you to adventure 1 quest higher than you would usually adventure.
Yikes! Ordinarily, I adventure at my quest level. How you're managing to do quests at higher than your level is beyond me. I can never seem to find the Bat Hole while I'm Level 3.  ;)

Seriously though, I found BM Pasta to be uncommonly weak from Level 3-6, and I certainly wasn't fighting a full level ahead. I didn't have the MP to spellsling consistently until Level 7 or so, and my Muscle was too flimsy to let me fight say... Hellions with any reliability until very late Level 6. Both my runs were way back before all this new-fangled "having chefstaves" and "gaining MP from eating pasta" nonsense. Maybe MP is less of a problem now. [shrug] Obviously, if you can survive it, it makes sense to adventure in the hardest area you have access to. You sound like you're using the Bad Moon adventures much more strategically than I ever did. Brains... bodyguard bats... makes sense now that I hear it.

Entangling 3+cannon 2*7 = 17 mana per adventure.  That's 1/2 mmj, or 50 meat, much less than you would gain from an adventure.
Did they change how MMJ works in Badmoon? It never seems to give me anywhere near that much MP. At least... not before Level 20 anyway.

No, they didn't as far as I know. Yori just made a mistake it would seem.

The MMJ scales by level:
The amount of MP gained is (1.5 * level) + (4 to 6)

See: http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/MMJ
